flexible and business-oriented IT professional, with many years'

covered a wide variety of Business- and Computing disciplines, including

abandoned by the IT community. Ageism lives! However, had that not
happened I'd not have been offered a position with WCJ Engineers,
so all's well that ends, eh?

Employment
History (latest first)
Surveyor
/ Project Manager, WCJ Engineers Ltd
WCJ Engineers
is a Civil Engineering Consultancy based in Esher, Surrey; further
details can be found on the website (not one of mine!) HERE.
My role is to monitor and analyse structural damage to a wide range
of buildings (mainly Local Authority or Housing Association properties),
specify appropriate repairs.and manage the subsequent works. My
largest project to date has been the reinstatement of severe flood-damage
to flats at the New River Village development in North London; this
contract being worth almost £200,000.
Senior ICT Technician, Fullbrook School
Fullbrook School is a Specialist Maths and Computing College, situated in New
Haw, Surrey. The role the ICT/Network team is the maintenance and development
of the School's ICT infrastructure, hardware and software to provide students,
teaching- and management staff with reliable, leading-edge IT systems. My primary
responsibilities are: to re-design and maintain Fullbrook's external and internal
Websites; the implementation of SIMS to integrate as many of the School's
administrative and educational systems as possible; subsequently to educate admin-
and teaching staff in the efficient use of SIMS. Additionally I have designed,
fabricated and installed secure desktop-mountings for the flat-screens attached
to the Learning Resource Centre computers.
Pricing Integrity Operator, Tesco Stores Ltd Based
at the Addlestone Superstore, the role of my team was to communicate with the
Head Office and ensure that all stock, Special Offers and Promotions were correctly
displayed and priced to comply with legal and corporate requirements. This frequently
required direct liaison with Senior Management and customers, calling for diplomacy
and interpersonal skills in addition to "back-office" and some IT duties.
July 2002 - August 2004 Since returning from Germany,
the slowdown in the Mainframe-IT industry necessitated my finding alternative
means of earning a living. From February 2003 until August 2004 I experienced
the road transportation of airfreight "at the sharp end" as a driver for Circle
Express Ltd, based in Colnbrook; this, whilst keeping the wolf from the door,
proved a most educational experience, providing an insight into an industry which
I had previously taken for granted. Whilst doing that - having in the past designed
and built websites for recreation - I have recently refreshed and extended my
knowledge of IT Networks and gained a CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) qualification
to Master Designer level, following 12 months of self-funded part-time study.
Looking to work within a larger operation as a team-member I am presently in the
process of designing, administering and developing websites for a number of clients.
Some of those which are presently in Production can be seen at: www.hotstuff-int.com
. Consultant
& System Programmer, Deutsche Post AG The Darmstadt site was home
to 40+ Production-, Acceptance-, and Testing CICS regions and provided second-level
Network- and System Programming support for other Deutsche Post data-centres located
in Berlin, Köln, Hannover and Stuttgart. My rôle was to provide general support
for these sites and plan for future regions whilst migrating to new releases of
software; advising and training permanent staff as necessary. Consultant
& System Programmer, Bayer AG From
their Data Centre in Leverkusen, Bayer AG manage the IT operations of the German
parent Company, its European subsidiaries and a number of client Companies. My
rôle was similar to that shown above.
Consultant & System Programmer, CSC-Ploenzke AG From
their Data Centre in Bad Homburg, Computer Sciences Corporation (Germany) manage
the IT operations of a number of client Companies, including DuPont(Germany) and
Hartmann & Braun. Again, my rôle was similar to that shown above.
A list of previous employers and positions dating back to 1968 can be supplied
if required.
